Bridge mode

Bridge mode refers to a modem configuration and settings in which the routing tasks are taken away from the modem placed on the router instead. This causes the modem to function as a bridge between the router and the Internet. This setting isn't required when modems alone are used for internet connectivity. However, when a router is added to the network and routing applications are used, the bridge mode setting is often required.

Customers using DSL internet service who wish to view their DVR remotely usually have to contact their ISP for assistance in changing this setting.
